As I took a moment to catch up on this morning's news an article regarding a Halloween costume hit home with the realization that this horrible nasty campaign has contributed to either desensitizing people regarding serious issues and has enabled people to let their inner bigotry and cretinous thoughts fly. This new "costume" depicts a Kardashian-type young woman bound and gagged - all it signifies is simply unconscionable.[1] To capitalize on a terrifying incident such as a hotel room invasion and robbery is despicable. It appears human beings today are devolving demonstrably in that they feel emboldened to act out their dark desires, verbally and physically, and this costume sends those easily impressed people a very dangerous message, several actually.
No one, no victim especially, deserves this treatment, just like Rosie O'Donnell didn't deserve what Mr. Trump dished up to her in a Presidential Debate for Pete's sake!!! I just read that Mr. Trump told the GOP that the gloves are off, scary because he was already acting unrestrained. The dignity of human beings, of U.S. citizens, is at stake here and that dignity, or lack thereof, is borne of respect or disrespect, restraint or unrestraint: the dignity of both, or all, sides of the ticket depends upon setting an example for the public. This sort of incendiary language and action sets a very bad example to continue the destructive (instructive in how NOT to deal with others) shenanigans and insincere non-apologies of Trump along with his refusal to detail his platforms and plans for the many critical issues we are faced with today.
More and more citizens are attacking and assaulting each other; verbally, and in some cases physically - both person and property. They feel enabled and righteous for doing so, adopting the mentality that "after all a big rich presidential candidate can do it and get away with it so can I," like their candidate who knows little about the constitution much less law, many of his supporters think they are protected under freedom of speech and right to bear arms. These are the supporters who sail past the constraints; legally and morally as well as ethically. These same people with no self-restraint are the ones who are afraid of hordes with machetes running the streets echoed in some conspiracist theory and fueled by bigotry and hate, and are expecting riots against the government akin to those in South America – yet they cannot see they are engaging in a self-fulfilling prophecy. These are also some of the same people who showed disgust and disdain with the many young followers of Senator Bernie Sanders who demonstrated poor impulse control - but they were young. We depend upon our youth to highlight and push issues, they cry out like the children they still are - it is part of growth into maturity and most learn from it – and it wakes up the older generation as well. To his great credit, Senator Sanders realized he had responsibilities and spoke to those young people, who listened, just as Mr. Trump's people may listen to him. Senator Sanders raised his youthful followers up a few rungs in maturity.
Mr. Trump would love to see a revolution like those in Cuba in the 50's, he does not care who or what gets destroyed, he does not care if American Dignity, American Integrity or American Values get stomped in the mud underfoot. It appears the Republican Nominee's plan is to lead his minions into destructive actions, not for The United States but for his own pleasure, so he can bask in the glow of his self-perceived power - power that only his minions can give him, an empty power that appears essentially wrought by mind control. To Mr. Trump's supporters , don't become a Trumpet Puppet, insist he attend to the issues and detail his plans on the economy, energy, and other pertinent issues. There is enough blame to go around for both candidates - and their families - as they negotiated their lives as humans, let's stick to the issues and behave in a manner that sets examples for our youth and for those older supposedly mature individuals with poor impulse control.
